It’s also possible to combine operators when working with integers. As a basic example, consider the following: 6 + 4 – 2 = 8. This calculation follows the rules of order of operations and follows the path of addition (6 + 4) then subtraction (2) to arrive at the result, which is 8.

Integers can also appear in equations in an algebraic setting. For example, solving x2+2x-8 = 0. In this equation, x = 2 and x = -4, the solutions to the equation which are the two integers.
