In the late 90s and early 2000s, DMX emerged as one of the most successful rappers of all time. He was signed by Ruff Ryders Entertainment, a label founded by Earl Simmons, better known as DMX. DMX quickly rose to the top of the hip hop charts, with his debut album, “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot”, becoming multiplatinum and peaking at No.1 on the Billboard charts. Throughout his career, DMX had numerous run-ins with the law, from drug possession and disorderly conduct to animal cruelty and tax evasion. However, his legal woes created a significant amount of drama in his life.

In 2019, DMX was the subject of multiple hospitalization and reportedly suffered from drug addiction.
