What Happened to DMX’s Dog Boomer
Over the past few years, music fans and hip hop heads have become familiar with the plight of DMX’s dog, Boomer. The Ruff Ryder himself has been vocal about the ups and downs of caring for the furry friend, with one story in particular showing his dedication to Boomer and his love for dogs as a whole.
The Story of Boomer
The story of DMX’s Boomer dates back to the Spring of 2019, when the rapper found the pup roaming the streets of New York City. DMX, who has always been an animal advocate, immediately took the dog in with the plan to find the poor animal a loving home. His plan worked to an extent, with Boomer eventually becoming a part of DMX’s canine family for the better part of two years.
Throughout his relationship with Boomer, DMX dubbed the animal ‘The Street King’, as he had been able to gain the trust of the pup despite the animal’s previous experiences on the streets without any proper care. DMX shared admiration for Boomer’s loyalty and became a father figure of sorts, taking Boomer to the groomer, on shopping trips and even taking him out to eat.
The Tragic Loss of Boomer
Unfortunately, this beautiful story of rescue and companionship between DMX and his four-legged friend Boomer came to an end on October 18th, 2020. On that day, DMX let the world know through a series of posts on Instagram that Boomer had passed away due to unknown causes. His posts paid homage to the fallen pup, with one post even featuring the caption: “R.I.P. Baby Boy. You will forever remain my King.” DMX was understandably heartbroken, as he had formed a special bond with Boomer in such a short amount of time, with him being grateful “for every moment we were blessed to have you in our lives.”

Though Boomer’s life was relatively short, the pup and his story left a lasting impression on the hearts of everyone who heard it. DMX’s touching stories about the canine’s life and their undeniable connection set an example for animal rescue and ownership that many people would be wise to replicate.
