My Love Affair With “You”

One of the greatest gifts life has given me is the TV series “You” – a dark psychological thriller that has captivated my attention since I first watched it. This show has made me fall in love with it, over and over again. Through its intense and unpredictable plot, compelling characters, and its thrilling soundtrack, this show has had me invested in the lives of Joe Goldberg, Love Quinn, and the rest of their twisted crew.

The Plot

The show follows Joe Goldberg, a seemingly average bookstore manager living in New York City. Though he appears to have it all together at first glance, a closer look reveals his psychological struggles. Joe soon develops an unhealthy obsession for aspiring writer, Beck, which leads him to take extreme measures to ensure that she is safe in his world. As a viewer, I am taken through a dizzying journey of suspense, drama, and twists. No two episodes are ever the same, and I’m constantly kept on the edge of my seat as I await to find out what happens next.

The Characters

The characters in this show are so unique and real, it’s impossible not to be connected to them. Joe, who is played by Penn Badgley, goes through a plethora of psychological turmoil. His intensity and complexity are seen in every scene and we are able to see the progression of his character as time passes. Love, Beck’s roommate and Joe’s eventual love interest, is also dynamic and multi-dimensional. Her mysterious and edgy personality stands out amongst the other characters, as she has a way of captivating the audience without even trying.

The Soundtrack

The soundtrack of “You” is what really sets it apart from other shows. This show doesn’t shy away from using creepy and eerie music, which sets the mood for each scene perfectly. The whole show is almost like one giant atmospheric experience that I look forward to with every episode.

Overall, it’s easy to see why I’m such an avid fan of this show. The plot keeps me hooked, the characters keep me entertained, and the music takes me on a journey. I’m thankful for “You” and all the hours of entertainment it has given me over the last few years. It’s clear that my love affair with this show is only just beginning.
